Our Team

By modeling collaboration between the public and private sectors and through incorporating social drivers of health, Buckeye Fields is a showcase for affordable housing development in economically distressed areas around and beyond Ohio.

Buckeye Hills Support Services

Buckeye Hills Support Services (BHSS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for affordable housing in conjunction with readily accessible services, supports, and programming for senior citizens in the Buckeye Hills Regional Council service region of Athens, Hocking, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Noble, Perry, and Washington counties. Through establishing an alliance with Buckeye Hills Regional Council (BHRC), BHSS can tap into the expertise and experience of BHRC’s staff in the areas of advocacy, service coordination, grants management, budgeting, communications, and intergovernmental relations to bring extensive resources to bear on its housing development projects. Buckeye Hills Regional Council has a long history of accountability with public resources for seniors, as evidenced by successful management of those programs since its designation as an Area Agency on Aging in 1974. They are accustomed to public regulatory systems. Through their close association, BHSS and BHRC have the organizational infrastructure both to deliver quality, affordable housing and stewardship of public funds and to ensure robust supportive services are provided that address the social drivers of health for area seniors.

Community Building Partners

Community Building Partners, under the leadership of Joseph Recchie, has been active in affordable housing development and redevelopment for many years, utilizing specialized financing tools to benefit nonprofit partners and community organizations. Activities of the firm have been diverse, including construction management, brownfield remediation, historic preservation, and innovative project finance. They help their partners build their capacity through both consulting and joint venturing with an emphasis on collaborative research and environmental stewardship. Buckeye Fields, is a good example of CBP’s creative collaboration, working directly with the Area Agency on Aging and Washington County to leverage very low cost, tax-exempt real estate and pairing this with an extremely cost-effective development model, in order to provide great housing at very low rents for area seniors. CBP has been a partner in numerous Ohio tax credit projects. In recent years CBP has worked extensively on the asset management side to refinance and reposition many of these assets.
